One Word(less) Wednesdays: An Unscripted Writing Prompt #9

Each week, I choose one word that captures something I’ve been learning, feeling, or simply noticing in my everyday life as a mom.

These One Word(less) Wednesday reflections are my way of slowing down, giving thoughts room to breathe.

This week’s one word is:

GOLDEN

The Webster’s definition of the word is:

“Having qualities of excellence; radiant; valuable; precious.”

one word golden

Lately, the word has been echoing around my home- thanks to the K-pop anthem my daughter has been playing nonstop.

And the more I hear it, the more it settles into me.

Golden

What a beautiful way to describe those moments in motherhood that glow just a bit brighter than the rest.

Golden moments aren’t always big or glittering.

They’re often small, almost invisible until afterward- when we look back and realize they shimmered.

A laugh shared over something silly.

The way your child reaches for your hand without thinking.

The quiet minutes before the day starts, when everything feels possible.

These little flecks of light become the threads that stitch our days together.

Motherhood is full of ordinary things, but now and then, a moment catches the light just right, and suddenly it feels precious.

And maybe that’s the magic of golden moments: they don’t ask us to perform or perfect- they ask us to notice.

To pause.

To let the goodness sink in.

There’s something golden in watching your child grow into themselves, too.

The confidence that blooms.

The sparkle in their eyes when they find something they love so much, they can’t help but share it with you- even if it means playing the same song on repeat until your brain hums it in your sleep.

That’s a golden part of motherhood too-

the shared joy, the shared noise, the shared life.

So this week, I’m choosing to look for the gold in my days.

Not in the flawless moments, but in the lived-in ones.

Or the loud triumphs, but in the soft glimmers.

Not in what I’m striving for, but in what’s already here.

Because even on the messiest days, there’s always something golden waiting to be seen.

“Some moments don’t shine because they’re perfect- they shine because you paused long enough to notice them.”

Golden doesn’t always mean grand.

Sometimes it’s simply the warmth you feel in a fleeting second, a reminder that even in the chaos, there is beauty tucked into the folds of everyday life.

This week, take a moment to notice your own golden glimmers.

Write them down, share one in the comments, or let them become your Unscripted Writing Prompt.

These moments matter.

They’re the ones that turn ordinary days into memories that glow.
