An Unscripted Writing Prompt
Each week, I choose one word that captures something I’ve been learning, feeling, or simply noticing in my everyday life as a mom.
These One Word(less) Wednesday reflections are my way of slowing down- of giving thoughts room to breathe.
Some weeks the word feels like a whisper, other times like a full song.
This week’s word has been quietly weaving itself into my days, asking for attention in the middle of the noise.
One Word(less) Wednesday: An Unscripted Writing Prompt #5
This week’s word is…
HARMONY
Webster’s definition of the word harmony is:
“a pleasing arrangement of parts; a combination that forms a consistent whole.”

“Harmony isn’t the absence of chaos—it’s the peace that hums beneath it.”
An Unscripted Writing Prompt
The thought had occurred to me this week about motherhood and how it rarely feels like a “pleasing arrangement.”
Some days feel more like noise than music- clashing schedules, overflowing laundry baskets, conversations that start sweet and end in tears.
But maybe harmony isn’t about everything being perfectly in tune.
Perhaps it’s about learning to listen, to adjust, to let some notes rest while others rise.
Harmony doesn’t mean balance every second of every day; it means allowing space for both calm and chaos.
The laughter and the mess.
The moments where everyone talks at once, and the quiet ones where you can finally hear yourself breathe.
It’s the way love holds all the pieces together, even when they don’t seem to fit.

In our homes, harmony shows up in small ways: a morning hug before the day begins, the clinking of dishes after dinner, a whispered “I love you” before bed.
It’s not perfection- it’s presence.
It’s the rhythm we create by showing up for one another, even when the melody changes.
As moms, we are the quiet conductors of our families.
We guide the tempo, calm the noise, and fill the pauses with love.

Harmony isn’t something we find once and keep forever- it’s something we keep tuning, over and over, as life shifts around us.
That’s the kind of HARMONY worth embracing- the imperfect, living kind.
The one that sounds like real life, messy and beautiful, stitched together with love and grace.
